Ms. Nicola Martis
CANADIAN AND WORLD STUDIES, GUIDANCE AND CAREER EDUCATION
With over 14 years of experience as a manager and teacher in Canadian high schools, Ms. Nicola Martis has held leadership roles as the principal of Convoy International Secondary Academy and Mamattawa Holistic Education Center. Presently, she serves as the Principal of Aim High Learning Institute (AHLI), LAS’s partner school in Ontario..
Mr. Gustavo Igansi
ESL, ENGLISH G9-12, BIOLOGY G11-12, CHEMISTRY G11-12
Mr. Gustavo is an experienced secondary educator with over 17 years of dedicated teaching expertise. He is currently a teacher at Aim High Learning Institute, where he instructs ESL to international students and English to Canadian high school students. At LAS, Mr. Gustavo will also be teaching ESL, as well as English for Grades 9-12 and Biology.
Ms. Maria D’Onofrio
B.A., TESL Ontario, TOEFL
Currently, Ms. Maria has been taking on various positions such as ESL/TOEFL Instructor and ESL/TOEFL Program Coordinator and Consultant. She also has TESL Ontario Certified and TOEFL Ontario Certified. Remarkably, she has been teaching and developing lesson plans for ESL/LINC learners over the past 3 years. She has considerable experience in implementing Canadian Language Benchmarks (CLB). She also works as an instructor of Literacy and Essential Skills for Ontario Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities. Moreover, she continuously dedicates some time to Seneca College as a reader and scribe for persons with physical and learning disabilities.
Mr. Luan Doan
Mathematics & Physic
Dr. Luan Doan holds a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Mining and Geology and has been a lecturer at the university since 2010. He completed his PhD at Virginia Tech through an exchange scholar program from 2015 to 2022. Currently serving as a tenure professor at the University of Mining and Geology. Dr. Doan’s expertise and commitment to education will undoubtedly contribute to the academic growth and success of LAS’s community.
Ms. Hoa Tran
MATHEMATIC G9-10, TECHNOLOGY EDUCATION
Dr. Hoa Tran obtained her Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Mining and Geology in 2010 and has been working as a lecturer at the university since then. From 2014 to 2022, she participated in an exchange scholar program in the United States and successfully defended her PhD at Virginia Tech. Since 2022, she has held the position of tenure professor at the University of Mining and Geology.
Ms. Nguyen Truong
CHEMISTRY, BIOLOGY, FOOD AND CULTURE
Dr. Nguyen Truong hold a Ph.D. in Physiology with 6 years of experience in pre-clinical research in academia and industry. She is also an award-winning teacher with 3 years of experience in Human Physiology and recipient of the Michigan State University Excellence in Teaching Award.
Mr. Duc Nguyen
Virginia Tech, Civil Engineering
Dr. Duc Nguyen has spent many years teaching Mathematics and Physics to students and has various scientific works on such fields. At LAS, he will be ready to dedicate his time to helping Vietnamese students with developing their study.
